Evacuating a train station
Built on the Ballarat line, between the existing Deer Park and Rockbank stations, Caroline Springs Station will improve the public transport options available to Melbourne’s fast growing western region.
Train stations present interesting challenges due to large transient populations, high (moving) fuel loads and a mixture of indoor and outdoor spaces.
The fire engineering analysis for this project included a full egress evacuation coupled with fire modelling of a potential train fire. In addition key stakeholder liaison with the County Fire Authority (CFA) was required to satisfy their intervention activities.
