About This Project

Fire engineering design for a signification building extension

A three level extension/building connected to the existing Hermitage building by a central void area coupled with refurbishment of the existing Hermitage building formed the scope of works.

The atrium space between the two buildings is designed for collaborative and individual learning, and social interaction for up to 300 people; able to accommodate the school’s regular house meetings.

Connecting the new with old presented the greatest fire safety challenge whereby an open atrium requiring to adopt smoke hazard management provisions and sprinkler protection was located adjacent to the existing Hermitage building.
