Designing with future considerations
Set to open late 2017, this $120m facility will provide more than 190 new beds, six operating theatres, two endoscopy theatres, six birthing suites and approximately 350 basement car parks. It also provides the first Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the region and a comprehensive range of cardiac services, including a dedicated cardiac unit.
A tailored evacuation strategy was developed taking into consideration the occupant group and the specific area of the hospital, whilst implementing the client’s management procedures.
As part of a multi-stage precinct, a design offering growth for future stages was a key consideration within the fire safety and services design. Key stakeholder discussions with the County Fire Authority (CFA) resulted in a clear direction for the design team at an opportune time.
